Title Number of thrifty phone subscribers at post offices exceeded 10,000 in just 17 days
Korea Post began selling thrifty phones at 226 post offices nationwide on September 27, 2013. The thrifty phones, called ‘altteul phones’ are provided by six small local companies which is also called Mobile Virtual Network Operators (MVNOs). 666 subscribers signed up on the first day it went on sale. Nine of 17 different phone models were sold out in just four days and therefore replaced urgently with another model. This service has been receiving great attention from the media and the people so far causing a sensation.
